My Bucket List

I still do not know what I want to do for life right now, but I have some things I want to do, like:

1. traveling the world,
2. witnessing an eclipse,
3. owning different kinds of gaming console,
4. able to play different kinds of musical instruments,
5. having a job that I enjoy,
6. able to play different kinds of sports,
7. experience living in another country,
8. able to talk fluently in different languages,
9. owning a telescope,
10. and invent something cool.

It is not really necessary, so if i don't get to do it, it's fine. It is only for fun.

The Necklace

The Necklace
Guy de Maupassant

It was 7 PM in Paris, France. A shaggy old cabin stands in the corner of a small road. Only the worst of the worst or the poorest of the poor lived there. Even in the noon, there was a pickpocket, what more of in the evening. There were dangerous people who were awake and even killers. That particular area never had any happy environment and has quite the creepy atmosphere

Among the poor people was Madame Loisel who lived with her husband, Monsieur Loisel. Madame Loisel was the only poor woman and she actually longed for the golds and jewels. Chandeliers on top, gold curtains, diamond encrusted windows, of all those luxuriousness. But she got a lot of friends from her job as a cleaning service. Many people like her though, because she is a kind woman, nice, and ambitious woman. As for her husband, he was a tough man who cares for his wife and always did what’s best for her.

One night, Madame Loisel’s friend invited her to a special occasion near the Eiffel Tower, for dinner and a small party with the international designers and models. Sadly, she doesn’t have any jewels, nice dress, and wonderful beauty products.

So she bought those stuffs with her own money, but she still lacks one thing.

A necklace.

Every single lady in the party had those fancy necklace with garnets and rubies along with topaz and gold double necklace again. Mathilde Loisel became depressed as she had no jewelries with her. She has the fancy dress, but not the necklace. She went to the famous town jeweler who is a good friend of her. Madame Foresteir, as people would call her, has her shop on the side of town.

That was when she saw a tremendous, gorgeous, magnificent diamond-encrested necklace. It was probably the size of a tennis ball like she never seen before. Although seemingly impossible, she asked Madame Foresteir to lend that necklace. Good thing, she wanted to lend it.

So that night, Madame Loisel borrowed that necklace. She met a lot of people there; like Pierre balmain, Francisco Lachowski, Tyra Bannks, many Victoria’s Secret Model, Maroon 5 and so on.

Unfortunately, that night, she went to the toilet for touch ups. There, she met a friend of her who was a very good friend of her. She was very talkative and shared many stories until she forgot that she took off her necklace and put that on the table near the sink.  As they were so into that stories, they went out the toilet for appropriate talk and have some drink.

When time struck by 10 pm, she went home; when she was back at home, she was very happy but also have a bad feeling. By the time she wanted to undress herself, she just realized that the necklace was not with her. She was very stressed and depressed; she did not know what to do next. She even had bad dreams thinking of how she’s going to replace it. That was a day of torment for her and Monsieur Loisel.

Her husband saw her. She told him those stories. Now both of them don’t know what to do. They  tried to look for that necklace everywhere, until, they called 911 for helping them to find that necklace, post the picture in facebook and twitter.

But still, it was not found.

So, she went to Madame Foresteir and apologized. Mathilde Loisel told her everything from the start, from the party and so on until she lost it. Forestier tried to stop her but she can’t. Mathilde Loisel was too depressed, stressed and focused on her apology. She went out and went away from her. That was when Forestier ran and stop her and said: “Don’t worry Mathilde, the necklace is with me. I took it during the party thinking you didn’t need it anymore. “ Mathilde just stared at her speechless and dumbfounded.

MERAH PUTIH

Merah Putih: Independence Day

Every country has its own independence day like America, its on July 4th. For us Indonesians, we celebrate Independence day on August 17th. On this day, we pay respects to our past heroes who fought for Indonesia and pay respects to our flag, Sang Saka Merah Putih as we call it. We pay respects in a “flag raising ceremony”.

In a flag raising ceremony, we have officers, like ceremony master and ceremony leaders. We follow certain steps or procedures in this ceremony. We are required to sing our national anthem, pay homage to our flag and others. After that, we play traditional games! We have Lomba Makan Krupuk, Memasukan Pensil dalam Botol and Tarik Tambang. Before, on 1945, saying Merdeka which means independence was actually forbidden and the consequences was shot on spot. So, they kept the fun by having these games mentioned.

We follow the order of the ceremony from the Japanese,  because back than, the Japanese people colonieses Indonesia for 3 years, they have helped us in many things; transportations and other stuffs, but we also suffered the most with their rodi which means us Indonesians were forced to work without pay and many died, especially in rodi train projects.

During the past, Indonesia has had many events which eventually led to Indonesia’s independence. Including the famous event Peristiwa Rengasengklok. Its usually taking quite a long time for the ceremony and is usually happening in the morning.

That seems to be it then. Thank you and make sure to visit us more!
